Using more than 2GB of RAM in After Effects

After receiving frequent out of memory errors from my After Effects CS3, I decided to do some research and realize you actually need to edit your boot.ini to enable AE to use more than 2.0GB of ram.

For advanced users, simply add the /3GB switch in your boot.ini, for intermediate users, you may consult this video tutorial on how to change the boot.ini: (Note that in order to save any changes to boot.ini, the “Read-only” check box in file properties needs to be cleared when you save. You can turn it back on afterwards.)

Warning, you should avoid messing around with this file unless you feel confident enough to restore proper order in the event of a major screw up 😉
